Frequently asked questions
- How common is colour blindness?
About 8% of men and 0.5% of women of northern European descent; red-green types (protan and deutan) account for the overwhelming majority. Tritanopia is rare. - What is the difference between protanopia and deuteranopia?
Both collapse red and green into similar shades, but protanopia also dims reds strongly, while deuteranopia keeps brightness closer to normal. - How should I fix a colour problem in my design?
Do not rely on hue alone: add an icon, a pattern, a label or a brightness difference. Then re-check with this tool — that combination is what makes a screen readable.
