What short-sightedness actually looks like
Drag the slider from -1.00D to -8.00D and watch the last line become unreadable. It is the fastest way to explain why someone can't read the whiteboard — or the bus number.

Frequently asked questions
- Is this an eye test?
No. It shows the blur that a given prescription produces; it cannot measure your eyesight, and it must not be used in place of an examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. - Why does the blur grow faster at higher dioptres?
Blur scales roughly with the defocus distance, so the jump from -2.00D to -4.00D is far more visible than from -0.50D to -2.50D. - What is the difference between myopia and astigmatism?
Myopia blurs in every direction; astigmatism smears edges in one axis more than the other, which is why letters ghost rather than simply soften.
